Google Cardboard VR Headsets Now Available in Official Virtual Reality Online Store

If you’re interested in getting your hands on a virtual reality headset these days, you’re not alone. Whether it’s Google Cardboard, or more pricey and power-packed VR options like Hololens, GearVR and Oculus Rift, they’re popular.

As a team that includes VR within our tech offering ‘specialties,’ we’ve seen a consistent upswing in the growth, interest and — frankly — explosion of the technology over the last couple of years.

During this time, it’s been fairly easy to get your hands on the $10-20 headsets (through a number of third party providers). Thanks to some recent help from Google (you know — the company that brought cardboard VR into the mainstream…and also changed the way the world does basically everything) –– it just got even easier!

Google recently opened an official virtual reality store online. With it, also came the sale of their Google Cardboard VR headset.

We can’t say with total certainty why it took them so long to offer the product permanently in their own stores (besides just limited editions and bundles), but, could it be just coincidence that it was launched shortly after HTC announced their virtual reality headset, Vive? With such a price different, it’s tough to say, but you can’t fault Google for wanting to stay on top of the mass adoption, with new headsets announced almost constantly!

Regardless, we’re excited that Cardboard (and therefore VR) is now even more accessible than ever before. It’s, of course, a great alternate to the larger and more expensive headsets such as the Oculus Rift, and anything that helps make this awesome tech more available to schools and education, as well as brands across nearly every industry, is something we can get behind!

If you haven’t experienced VR for yourself quite yet, you could always jump out of a plane with Gravity Jack’s very own founders, Luke and Jen Richey! Our app, Skydive360 is available for iOS and Android for completely free!

If heights isn’t your thing, try going for a virtual ride in the famous Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. This app is a blast beyond the awesome virtual reality experience, and it is also available (free) for both iOS and Android.

All you need is a headset!

Google is currently is selling the Cardboard for $15.00 or $25.00 for two. Keep a close watch on our social media accounts too, because we love to talk about the latest and greatest VR and have even been known to give a headset or two away! 🙂

Until next time, VR on!
