June 6, 1944
An interactive, augmented reality tribute to the brave Americans who fought for freedom on D-Day – helping to educate future generations on the historical battle occurring June 6, 1944.
Gravity Jack designed and created the D-Day: June 6, 1944 app, from the ground up, in order to be an experience that was both true to history and exciting. Using multimedia, augmented reality, cinematic sound and animation, the app scans giant classroom maps, unlocking a complete augmented reality experience that walks the user through the D-Day timeframe, landings, battles and more — all in live action on top of the map.
In order to complete this project, the Gravity Jack team traveled with The Greatest Generation Foundation, to Normandy, to collect video content, historical information and firsthand accounts from veterans traveling for the anniversary of D-Day. This content was all merged into the application as free media, accessible to all through the free app.
