OK – so Google announces a new C based programming language: Go, and it is immediately picked up by bloggers â€“ (us included, arrgghh) And as a company that programs in a whole slew of languages we want to know what we can do with it. In reality the answer is â€œnot much yetâ€
Other than proving that anything Google does make news, I concur with blogger Robert Bravery. Google Go wonâ€™t Go anywhere. Ixnay on the object oriented, it isnâ€™t scalable, no plug in architecture, stiff learning curve,Â there isnâ€™t a platform that HAS to have Go (like Objective C) and the list goes on and on. Lastly on the list of positives I just didn’t see anything that got me that excited.
